The Beijing 5-Day Private Family Tour is ideal for families with children, covering Beijing’s major historical and cultural attractions while including activities that are fun and educational for kids. You will stay in a comfortable 4-star hotel, enjoy daily breakfasts and lunches, and on the fourth evening, savor a special Peking Duck dinner followed by a Peking Opera performance. A professional English-speaking guide will accompany you throughout the tour, ensuring a delightful experience for the whole family.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Beijing
Arrive in Beijing, where you will be met by a private transfer to your hotel for check-in.
The rest of the day is free for you to explore Beijing at your leisure, allowing you and your children to experience the city’s blend of modern and traditional charm.
In the evening, relax at your hotel and prepare for the exciting days ahead.
Day 2: Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and Beijing Zoo
Morning
Tiananmen Square:
After breakfast, visit Tiananmen Square, the largest city square in the world. This is the heart of China, where children can enjoy the open space while you visit the Monument to the People’s Heroes, feeling the weight of history in this iconic location.
The Forbidden City:
Next, explore the Forbidden City, the grand palace that was home to the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties. With over 9,000 rooms, this vast complex will fascinate children as they learn about the lives of emperors and ancient Chinese history.
Afternoon
Beijing Zoo (Panda House):
After a traditional Beijing lunch, head to the Beijing Zoo (Panda House). The highlight for children will be the Panda House, where they can see China’s national treasure, the giant panda, up close. The zoo offers a wide variety of animals, making it a fun and educational experience for the whole family.
Return to Hotel:
In the evening, return to your hotel to rest and unwind.
Day 3: Mutianyu Great Wall and Dingling Tomb
Morning
Mutianyu Great Wall:
After breakfast, travel to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, located in the Beijing suburbs. This section is well-preserved and less crowded, making it ideal for family visits.
Children will enjoy climbing up or taking the cable car up the wall ( cable car not included ), where they can marvel at the stunning scenery. After exploring the wall, they can have an exhilarating ride down on the toboggan, a thrilling experience that will be a highlight of the trip.
Afternoon
Dingling Tomb:
After lunch, visit Dingling, one of the Ming Tombs, where the 13th emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Emperor Wanli, is buried. The underground palace of Dingling showcases a wealth of ancient treasures, providing an intriguing look into the burial practices of the Ming dynasty that will captivate both children and adults.
Return to Hotel:
In the evening, return to your hotel to rest after a day of exploration.
Day 4: Summer Palace and Shichahai Hutong Tour
Morning
Summer Palace:
After breakfast, visit the Summer Palace, a magnificent imperial garden and palace used by the Qing dynasty emperors. The palace is known for its beautiful gardens, temples, and the vast Kunming Lake. Children can enjoy the serene environment while learning about China’s ancient garden art.
Afternoon
Shichahai Hutong Tour:
After lunch, head to the Shichahai area, a historical and cultural preservation zone in Beijing. Shichahai consists of three lakes: Qianhai, Houhai, and Xihai, and is surrounded by some of Beijing’s oldest hutongs.
You will explore these narrow alleys by rickshaw, visiting traditional courtyard homes (siheyuans) and learning about the daily lives of Beijing’s residents. This area offers a unique glimpse into old Beijing, where your family can experience the city’s rich history and culture.
Evening
Peking Duck Dinner and Peking Opera Performance:
In the evening, enjoy a traditional Peking Duck dinner ( a la carte and paid on your own) , a culinary experience that introduces you to one of Beijing’s most famous dishes.
After dinner, head to the Liyuan Theatre to watch a performance of Peking Opera, a colorful and dramatic spectacle that will immerse your family in traditional Chinese culture.
Return to Hotel:
After the performance, return to your hotel for the night.
Day 5: Temple of Heaven and Departure
Morning
Temple of Heaven:
After breakfast, visit the Temple of Heaven, where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties would pray for good harvests. The temple’s architecture and design are particularly captivating for children, and your guide will share engaging stories about its historical significance.
Afternoon
Departure:
After lunch, you will be transferred to Beijing Capital Airport for your departure, concluding your enjoyable Beijing family tour.
