Embark on the “Imperial Journey: Following in the Footsteps of Emperors” and explore the lives and beliefs of Chinese emperors. This Beijing Imperial Tour will take you to three of Beijing’s most iconic imperial sites—the Forbidden City, and Ming Tombs ( Dingling).
You will gain insight into how Chinese emperors ruled their empire, communicated with the heavens, and were honored after death. This cultural journey offers a unique glimpse into the grandeur and mystery of ancient Chinese royalty.
Itinerary:
Morning:
8:00 AM: Begin your day with heading to the majestic Forbidden City. This vast palace was home to the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It’s not just an architectural marvel but also a window into the lives, politics, and culture of ancient China. Your guide will lead you through the emperor’s living quarters, ceremonial halls, and beautiful gardens, providing detailed explanations of their daily life and governance.
Midday:
12:00 PM: After your visit to the Forbidden City, enjoy a traditional Chinese lunch at a nearby restaurant. This meal will offer a taste of authentic Beijing cuisine, giving you the energy needed for the afternoon’s activities.
Afternoon:
1:30 PM: After lunch, you will drive to the outskirts of Beijing to visit the Ming Tombs.
2:30 PM: You will explore the Dingling Tomb, the most well-preserved of these mausoleums. Here, you’ll descend into the underground palace, where the emperor’s coffin and treasures were buried. Your guide will share the cultural and spiritual beliefs behind the tomb’s design and construction, offering a deeper understanding of how ancient Chinese viewed life and the afterlife.
Evening:
5:30 PM: After exploring the Ming Tombs, your private vehicle will return you to your hotel, concluding this enriching and informative imperial tour.
