This two-day tour is specially designed for foreign travelers, offering a seamless journey from Beijing to the well-preserved Pingyao Ancient City. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pingyao offers a glimpse into China’s rich history with its ancient city walls, traditional courtyard houses, and the first bank of China, Rishengchang Exchange House.
On the second day, you will visit the magnificent Wang Family Courtyard, an excellent example of traditional Chinese architecture. Afterwards, return to Beijing by high-speed train.
Itinerary
Day 1: Beijing to Pingyao
Morning
Departure:

Begin your journey with a comfortable high-speed train ride from Beijing to Pingyao. The train ride takes about 4 hours, offering you a chance to relax and enjoy the passing scenery.
Arrival in Pingyao:
Time: 11:30 AM
Upon arrival, your English-speaking guide will greet you and assist with hotel check-in.
Afternoon
Pingyao Ancient City Wall:
Time: 12:30 PM – 02:00 PM
After lunch, start your exploration with a walk along the Pingyao Ancient City Wall. This well-preserved wall surrounds the old city and offers stunning views of the historic architecture below.
Rishengchang Exchange House:
Time: 02:30 PM – 04:00 PM
Next, visit the Rishengchang Exchange House, known as China’s first bank. Here, you’ll learn about the origins of China’s banking system and the history of this pivotal institution.
Evening
Hotel Check-in:

Dinner:

Day 2: Pingyao to Beijing

Visit to Wang Family Courtyard:

After breakfast, take a short trip to the Wang Family Courtyard. This grand complex, often called the “Folk Palace,” showcases the grandeur of traditional Chinese architecture and the lifestyle of wealthy families in ancient China.
Afternoon
Return to Pingyao for Lunch:
Time: 12:00 PM – 01:00 PM
After exploring the Wang Family Courtyard, return to Pingyao for lunch. You will have some free time to stroll through the ancient streets, shop for souvenirs, or simply enjoy the charming atmosphere.
Evening
Return to Beijing:
Departure Time: 02:30 PM
Arrival Time in Beijing: 06:30 PM
Board the high-speed train back to Beijing, bringing your enriching two-day tour to a close. Arrive in Beijing in the evening.
