Itinerary:
Morning:
7:30 AM: Head to the Mutianyu Great Wall, a scenic 1.5-hour drive away. During the drive, your guide will share fascinating insights into the history and significance of the Great Wall.
9:00 AM: Arrive at the Mutianyu Great Wall, where you’ll take a cable car to the top. Mutianyu is known for its well-preserved condition and stunning natural surroundings. As you walk along the wall, you’ll pass through ancient watchtowers and enjoy panoramic views of the mountains. This section of the Great Wall is less crowded, allowing for a more peaceful and immersive experience.
11:30 AM: After exploring the Great Wall, descend by cable car and enjoy a traditional Chinese lunch at a nearby restaurant. Savor local flavors that provide both nourishment and a taste of Beijing’s culinary heritage.
Afternoon:
1:00 PM: After lunch, you’ll head back to the city center for your visit to the Forbidden City. The drive will take about 1.5 hours, giving you time to rest and prepare for the afternoon’s exploration.
2:30 PM: Arrive at the Forbidden City, the world’s largest ancient palace complex. Your guide will lead you through this UNESCO World Heritage Site, starting from the Meridian Gate. You’ll explore the most significant halls and courtyards, including the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Central Harmony, and the Hall of Preserving Harmony. As you walk through these grand halls, you’ll learn about the lives of the emperors and the history of the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
5:00 PM: After a thorough exploration of the Forbidden City, you go back to your hotel. The drive back is a great time to reflect on the day’s experiences and ask your guide any remaining questions.
