Run the gauntlet 起源
其实习语Run the gauntlet跟单词gauntlet没有任何关系。这个习语最早起源于17世纪的瑞典。在瑞典有一种军事惩罚：它包括把一个人上身脱光到腰部，让受惩罚的人在由两排士兵形成的大门中间奔跑，两排士兵用棍棒或鞭子打他。两排士兵围成的大门的瑞典语是：Gantlope。因此，这种残忍的惩罚最初被称为：running the gantelope。
