Dear Sirs,
I'm planning a tour in Gangsu , starting on June 24th  : we are  9-12 people and  we'll arrive in Lanzhou  from Dalian ( where we are for a business event the week before)on 23th evening,  we want to visit Zhangye , including Danxia area, Badain Jaran area ( 1 or 2 nights in the desert) and Jiayuguan:
We  see two potential alternatives : 1) by train to Zhangye ,visit of Danxia area in the afternoon and they day after move to  Badain Jaran ; 2) move from Lanzhou to the desert by car as you suggested , visiting  Zhangye on the way back.

We have 7 or 8 days and we are still in doubt if visit also Xining  (lake?)and eventually Tongren( temples) but we don’t know if it’s worth to visit and how long. Regarding Badain Jaran , which is my main target, is it possible to visit all the sites ( the temple, the lake , the highest dune) in a two days excursion ( 1 night in the desert) or do we need 2 nights? Which is the temperature in the desert ; one family has a kid 2 years old. Is this trip suitable ?

Can you make us a proposal for such tour , including transportation and guides ? I looked to the hotel in the cities we’ll visit and luckily they are not expensive, therefore please select good ones ( at least 4 stars). As we ha you ve not much time please try to make a program intensive as visit. Even I don’t speak Chinese I’m travelling in china from many years and I’m quite familiar with the culture and lifestyle.

Best regards. Alessandro

Dear Mr. Negrisoli,

Thank you for reaching out to Ruqin China Travel with your plans for a trip to Gansu. We’re delighted to assist in any way we can as you plan your journey.

Based on your inquiry, it sounds like you have an exciting itinerary ahead, and we understand the importance of making the most of your limited time. While Ruqin China Travel is a travel advisory service and does not provide direct tour guide services, hotel bookings, or transportation arrangements, we are happy to offer guidance and suggestions to help you plan the perfect trip.

For the logistics of your tour, we recommend contacting China Highlights, a reputable travel agency that can help with all aspects of your trip, including transportation, guides, and hotel bookings. They have experience in organizing tours in Gansu and can tailor your itinerary based on your specific preferences and time constraints. You can reach them directly at: [email protected].

Regarding your questions about the Badain Jaran Desert, typically, a two-day trip (one night in the desert) is sufficient to visit the key sites like the temple, lake, and highest dune. However, if you prefer a more relaxed pace, we’d recommend considering two nights in the desert, which would allow more time to explore the landscape.

The temperature in the desert can be extreme, especially in summer. During the day, it can be very hot, but temperatures can drop significantly at night. Please ensure to pack appropriately for both hot and cooler temperatures. Given that you’ll be traveling with a young child, we advise taking extra precautions with hydration and sun protection. The desert terrain can be rough, so it’s important to assess the comfort and safety for the child on such an excursion.

As for Xining and Tongren, if you have time and are interested in culture and history, Xining’s Qinghai Lake and Tongren’s temples are certainly worth considering. However, since your itinerary is already quite packed, it might be better to focus on Gansu itself to avoid feeling rushed.

I hope this information helps you with your trip planning. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need further advice.

Wishing you a wonderful trip to Gansu!

Best regards,
Ruqin China Travel
