The wall zigzags through the mountains, resembling a bow with an arrow, which is how it got its name.
This section is one of the most photographed and adventurous parts of the Great Wall, famous for its steep, untouched, and natural state. Hike key spots like the Sky Ladder, Eagle Flies Facing Upward, you’ll witness the raw beauty of this ancient structure. This tour offers a perfect blend of adventure, breathtaking scenery, and cultural immersion.
Itinerary:
Morning:
7:00 AM: You will begin a comfortable 2-hour drive to Jiankou Great Wall.
9:00 AM: Upon arrival at Jiankou, you will start your hike at the base of the wall. The hike begins with a relatively gentle ascent, allowing you to acclimatize before tackling the more challenging sections. As you proceed, the terrain becomes steeper, and the views more spectacular. Key highlights include the Sky Ladder, a nearly vertical climb, and Eagle Flies Facing Upward, where the wall rises sharply. These sections are not for the faint-hearted but offer incredible rewards in terms of views and a sense of achievement.
Midday:
12:30 PM: After the morning’s hike, enjoy a well-deserved break with a traditional Chinese lunch at a local farmhouse near the Great Wall. The meal will feature fresh, locally sourced ingredients, providing a taste of rural life in China. You may also have the opportunity to pick seasonal fruits and vegetables in the nearby orchards, adding a unique touch to your experience.
Afternoon:
2:00 PM: Continue your hike along the Jiankou Great Wall. This part of the hike will take you through some of the most dramatic and challenging sections of the wall. These areas are known for their steep, narrow paths and stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
4:00 PM: After completing your hike, you will return to your vehicle for the drive back to Beijing. This is an excellent time to relax, reflect on the day’s adventure, and ask any remaining questions you may have.
6:00 PM: Arrive back at your hotel, marking the end of your Jiankou Great Wall Adventure Hiking Day Tour.
