Hi Daniel, what are the best links or websites for Concerts in China?  I listen to China folk music, are there any singers performing in Shanghai, Jiangxi during 31 Mar - 8 Apr? Song Dongye, Wan Xiaoli,Laolang, Zhao Lei, Sir Deer, Jing Fei?
- BTW, when will Song Dong Ye be able to perform? Read that he has restricted due to drug offences. He's a great songwriter, love the Beautiful tunes he sang 🙂 Lily, thanks!

Hi Lily, here are a few go-to platforms to check what’s on:

Damai.cn 大麦网‌ 秀动网 showstart.com – Nationwide event listings. You can search by city, artist, or genre.

Tongcheng Travel (同程旅行)
– Good for long-distance bus tickets and sometimes concert tickets too. Using WeChat.

You’re in luck—Shanghai Spring International Music Festival (上海之春国际音乐节‌) runs from March 23 to April 9, with a nice mix of folk, classical, and film-themed concerts.

A couple of highlights:

Shi Yijie’s Italian Folk Concert (石倚洁意大利民谣音乐会‌) (March 21) – Think timeless classics like Return to Sorrento 重归苏莲托. If you’re interested, keep an eye out in case they add extra shows.

Shanghai Light Music Orchestra: Film Classics Concert (上海轻音乐团影视金曲音乐会‌) (March 25–26) – This one blends famous movie scores with a mellow, folk-inspired vibe.
Tip: The festival is offering over 20,000 public/free tickets! You can check availability on Damai.cn or through official festival channels.

What’s Up with Song Dongye?

About Song Dongye—under current rules in China, artists with past drug offenses are typically banned from public/commercial performances. Unfortunately, there’s no sign of him returning to the stage anytime soon.

Totally agree with you though—he’s a brilliant songwriter with some truly beautiful melodies. Let’s hope he finds a way back someday.

Any questions, please feel free to let us know.
Best,
Daniel
