Hi Daniel, I was wondering if foreign people can book visits to Mao Memorial Hall using a foreign number or do I need a local number?

Thank you,

Saif

Hi Saif,

Thank you so much for reaching out, and it's wonderful to hear about your upcoming trip to China!

I completely understand the challenge you're facing. The online reservation system for the Mao Zedong Memorial Hall does indeed require a Chinese ID and mobile number, which can be tricky for international visitors like yourself. But no worries—there are still good options available!

As a foreign visitor, you can make an in-person reservation. The memorial hall reserves a number of same-day tickets for international guests. All you need to do is bring your passport and head to the Reception Desk for Interntional Tourists ("境外游客接待处") on the Southeast corner of the Hall between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM.

Alternatively, if you'd prefer someone to help with the process, you could ask your hotel concierge or contact a local travel agency (such as the Beijing Tourist Distribution Center) to assist with the booking.

Just a quick note for your visit: you’ll need to bring your original passport, and remember that bags, cameras, and other personal items are not allowed inside. There is a free bag storage area available on the east side of the memorial.

If you need more help, you can also call the Beijing Tourism Hotline at +86 10 12301 (they offer English service).

Wishing you a smooth visit and a memorable time in Beijing!
