Simatai Great Wall
Simatai is one of the few sections of the Great Wall open for evening visits, offering a very different experience from the daytime crowds. Its steep slopes and original watchtowers give it a more rugged, historic character.

At the foot of the wall, Gubei Water Town is a pleasant place to stay, with canals, traditional-style streets, and beautiful night views.

Gubeikou Great Wall
Gubeikou is one of my favorite sections for hikers and photographers who want to experience the Great Wall in a more natural setting. Much of the wall remains unrestored, revealing its original character and rich history.

With mountain views, quiet trails, and relatively few visitors, Gubeikou rewards those looking for a more adventurous Great Wall experience.

Jiankou Great Wall
Jiankou is the Great Wall at its wildest, with steep ridges, unrestored walls, and dramatic mountain scenery. It is best suited to experienced hikers looking for a challenging adventure and outstanding photography opportunities.

Because of its rugged terrain and limited facilities, careful preparation is essential before visiting Jiankou. The effort, however, is rewarded with unforgettable views.
Important note:
Parts of Jiankou are steep, rugged, and challenging.
I generally recommend it only for experienced hikers and visitors comfortable with difficult terrain. Some areas are not officially developed for tourism.
