Online reservations simply make the visit smoother. You choose a time slot, avoid waiting at the entrance, and walk straight into the garden once you arrive. During weekends, holidays, and peak travel seasons, this small step can save a lot of time.
1) Humble Administrator’s Garden (拙政园)
The Humble Administrator’s Garden (拙政园) is Suzhou’s most famous classical garden and a UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s also widely considered one of the Four Great Gardens of China, and for many travelers it’s the main reason to visit Suzhou in the first place.
Because of its popularity, this garden often reaches capacity during busy seasons. While tickets may still be available at the entrance, booking in advance is the safer option, especially in spring and autumn when the garden is at its most beautiful.

Fourth, the nearby Tongli Ancient Town is a top-rated water town. Your entrance ticket covers several small sites inside. While you can buy a basic ticket at the gate, bundle tickets online are often cheaper and more convenient.
9) Panmen Scenic Area (盘门景区)
Panmen Scenic Area is home to China’s only surviving ancient land-and-water city gate, offering a rare look at Suzhou’s historical defenses. The site includes the famous Pan Gate, Ruiguang Pagoda, and Wumen Bridge, together known as the “Three Sights of Panmen.” It’s a unique blend of military history and Jiangnan-style beauty.
Entry costs ¥40 for daytime or ¥50 for the night tour, which includes a traditional rowing boat ride. For an extra ¥20, you can also climb the Ruiguang Pagoda.

First, buying tickets at the entrance is still possible for most attractions in Suzhou. If you arrive early, especially on weekdays, this can be the simplest option. Ticket windows usually accept cash, and the process is straightforward.
Second, you can try official Chinese booking platforms. Some gardens sell tickets through their own websites or WeChat accounts, and there is also the “Suzhou Garden Tourism” system used for several classical gardens.
