How to Book Hangzhou Attraction Tickets: All You Need to Know

Written and updated by  Ruqin
Last updated: March 8, 2026

The first time I walked along West Lake early in the morning, I noticed something many first-time visitors don’t expect—some of Hangzhou’s most famous experiences require advance booking. Shows, museums, and a few popular scenic spots often limit daily tickets, especially on weekends and holidays.

That’s why understanding how to book Hangzhou attraction tickets before you go can make your trip much smoother. A little preparation helps you avoid sold-out time slots and unnecessary queues.

In this guide, I’ll show you how to book Hangzhou attraction tickets, where reservations are actually needed, and which of the city’s best places you can enjoy completely free.

Hangzhou Tickets Available On-Site—But Better Online

In fact, many top sites still let you buy tickets at the entrance. However, it’s often better to book ahead—especially during weekends or holidays—to save time and sometimes enjoy online discounts.

1. Leifeng Pagoda (雷峰塔)

Leifeng Pagoda, originally built in 977 AD, was created to enshrine Buddhist relics. The current five-story octagonal tower was rebuilt in 2002. It blends classic Tang-Song style with modern design. Inside, a glass floor lets you see ancient ruins beneath your feet.

How to buy tickets for Leifeng Pagoda (雷峰塔) in Hangzhou
Leifeng Pagoda (雷峰塔)

Booking: Search “雷峰塔” on WeChat; platforms like Viator, Trip.com, or Klook

Note: At Leifeng Pagoda, you can still buy tickets directly at the entrance. When I last visited, the ticket windows were right by the main gate, and the process was straightforward.

The on-site ticket counters accept several payment methods, including cash, Alipay, and WeChat Pay, which makes things convenient for most travelers. If you arrive early in the morning or later in the afternoon, buying tickets on the spot is typically quick and easy.

Hours: May 1 – Oct 31: 8:00 – 20:00; Nov 1 – Mar 15: 8:00 – 17:30
Address: No. 1 Xizhao Mountain Road, West Lake Scenic Area
Transport: No direct metro. Take Metro Line 4 to Shuichengqiao Station, then transfer to Bus 87 or 139
Phone: +86 571 87979206

2. Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City (良渚古城遗址公园)

How to book tickets for Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City in Hangzhou
Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this park showcases a 5,000-year-old civilization. It features ancient city walls, a water system, and impressive relics. You can explore the large area by electric cart.

For Liangzhu Ancient City Ruins Park, I strongly recommend reserving your ticket in advance.

Technically, you can still buy tickets on-site at the Visitor Center, where the full ticket price is 60 RMB per person. However, the park operates a real-name reservation system and limits daily visitors to about 15,000 people. During weekends and holidays, tickets at the gate can sell out, or you may face long queues.

In practice, the easier option is to reserve ahead through the “Liangzhu Ancient City” mini program on WeChat or Alipay. It only takes a few minutes and saves you a lot of uncertainty when you arrive.

Booking: Search “良渚古城” on WeChat
Hours: 9:00 – 17:00 (last entry at 16:00)
Address: Fengdu Road, Pingyao Town, Yuhang District
Transport: Metro Line 2 to Liangzhu Station, then transfer to Bus 1222M
Phone: +86 571 88530000

3. Impression West Lake Show 印象西湖

How to book tickets for mpression West Lake Show in Hangzhou
mpression West Lake Show

Directed by Zhang Yimou, this open-air night show is performed on the waters of West Lake. It combines music, dance, and traditional opera with stunning visuals to capture the essence of Hangzhou.

You can buy tickets on-site for the Impression West Lake Show, but I usually recommend securing them ahead of time.

The ticket windows normally open during the day of the performance and remain available until shortly before the show begins. However, from my experience in Hangzhou, weekends and public holidays often sell out quickly, especially during peak travel seasons.

If this show is on your must-see list, it’s much safer to book in advance so you don’t arrive at West Lake only to find the tickets gone.

Booking: Search “印象西湖” on WeChat; Book through Viator, trip.com or Klook (great for English-speaking travelers)
Hours: Regular: 19:45 – 20:45; Holidays: Additional show at 21:10
Address: No. 82 Beishan Road, opposite Yue Fei Temple
Transport: Bus 7, 27, or Y1 to Yuefen Station

4. China National Tea Museum (中国茶叶博物馆)

How to book China National Tea Museum in Hangzhou
China National Tea Museum

This is China’s only national museum dedicated to tea. It showcases the history of tea, tea-making techniques, and tea ceremonies. Surrounded by lush gardens, it offers a relaxing way to learn about Longjing tea.

At the China National Tea Museum, you can usually make a reservation right at the entrance.

When you arrive, you’ll see a QR code posted near the gate. Just scan it with WeChat or Alipay to register for entry on the spot. The museum is free to visit all year, which makes it one of my favorite quiet cultural stops in Hangzhou.

That said, on weekends and public holidays, visitor numbers can fill up quickly. I usually suggest reserving in advance if possible, just to avoid the chance of waiting for an available entry slot.

Hours: 8:30 – 16:30 (closed on Mondays)
Address: No. 88 Longjing Road, West Lake District
Transport: Bus 27 or You 3 to Shuangfeng Station
Phone: +86 571 87964221
Official Site: www.teamuseum.cn
Booking: Search “中国茶叶博物馆” on WeChat

5. Lingyin Temple & Feilai Peak (灵隐寺及飞来峰)

Lingyin Temple is one of China’s most important Buddhist temples. It was founded in the 4th century and holds a wealth of religious art. You’ll need two tickets: one for Feilai Peak (which includes grotto carvings) and another for the temple itself.

Feilai Peak and LingyinTemple tickets in Hangzhou
Feilai Peak at Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou

I strongly recommend reserving your visit in advance for the Lingyin Feilai Peak Scenic Area.

According to the official notice from the West Lake Scenic Area, starting December 1, 2025, Lingyin Temple and the entire Feilai Peak scenic area have become free to visit. The previous 45 RMB entrance ticket for the scenic area and the 30 RMB incense ticket for the temple have both been removed.

However, visitors must make a real-name reservation before entering. The reservation can be made 1–7 days in advance through the “Hangzhou Lingyin Feilai Peak” mini program on WeChat or Alipay. Same-day reservations are generally not accepted, although limited on-site registration may sometimes be available depending on capacity.

The scenic area includes Lingyin Temple, Yongfu Temple, and Taoguang Temple.

Opening hours: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM (last entry at 5:00 PM).

Daily visitor limits apply:

  • Weekdays: 35,000 visitors
  • Weekends: 50,000 visitors
  • Public holidays: 65,000 visitors

Reservations are usually divided into morning and afternoon entry periods, so booking ahead will make your visit much smoother.

Booking: WeChat “灵隐寺”; Book through Viator, trip.com or Klook (great for English-speaking travelers)
Address: No. 1 Fayun Lane, West Lake District

6. Liuhe Pagoda (Six Harmonies Pagoda ) (六和塔)

Built in the Northern Song Dynasty, this riverside pagoda once calmed the powerful Qiantang River tides. It stands nearly 60 meters tall and offers sweeping river views from the top.

Six Harmonies Pagoda

You can buy tickets on-site for Liuhe Pagoda, but it’s also possible to reserve them online in advance.

The standard entrance ticket is 20 RMB per adult, valid for visits between 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM. If you want to climb the pagoda, there is a small additional ticket (usually around 5–10 RMB). When available, I often suggest choosing a combined ticket, which tends to be a better value.

Tickets can be purchased at the entrance by scanning a QR code or at the ticket window. Alternatively, you can reserve ahead through the “West Lake Tourism” official account on WeChat.

One practical tip from my visits: while on-site tickets are normally easy to buy, lines can form during holidays or peak travel seasons. If your schedule is tight, booking online first will save you time.

Booking: WeChat “西湖旅游”; Book through Viator, trip.com or Klook (great for English-speaking travelers)
Hours: 7:00 – 17:30 (clearing begins at 17:15)
Address: No. 16 Zhijiang Road, West Lake District
Transport: Bus 4 or 318 to Liuhe Pagoda Station
Phone: +86 571 879777679

7. Hupao Park (虎跑公园)

Famous for the “Dreaming of the Tiger Spring,” this peaceful park features the third-best spring in China. Enjoy local tea made with spring water, and explore scenic spots like the Ji Gong Tower.

You can either buy tickets at the entrance or reserve in advance for Hupao Park.

The adult ticket costs 15 RMB per person. When I visit, I usually notice that the process is simple—tickets are available directly at the park entrance, so spontaneous visits are perfectly possible.

If you prefer to plan ahead, you can also reserve tickets online through the “West Lake Tourism” official account on WeChat or similar platforms.

The park is open daily from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM all year round. Since it’s a quieter stop compared with some of the bigger West Lake attractions, buying tickets on arrival is usually smooth and easy.

Booking: WeChat “西湖旅游”; Book through Viator, trip.com or Klook (great for English-speaking travelers)
Hours: 6:00 – 18:00
Address: No. 39 Hupao Road, West Lake District
Transport: Bus K4, 504, or Y5 to Hupao Station
Phone: +86 571 8797776710

8. Yue Fei Temple (岳王庙)

Yue Fei Temple (岳王庙)

This memorial honors Yue Fei, a Song Dynasty general known for loyalty and bravery. Visit the main hall, his tomb, and the famous kneeling statues of traitors. Calligraphy and poems from past centuries fill the corridors.

You can easily buy tickets on-site for Yue Fei Temple, also known locally as Yue Wang Temple.

When I visit, the process is very straightforward. Just head to the ticket window at the entrance, where tickets are sold directly to visitors. The adult ticket price is 25 RMB. Since the temple sits along the northern shore of West Lake, many travelers stop by while walking or cycling around the lake, and buying tickets on arrival usually works perfectly well.

Booking: WeChat “西湖旅游”
Hours: Regular: 7:30 – 17:30; Peak season: Open until 19:00
Address: No. 80 Beishan Road, West Lake District
Transport: Metro Line 3 to Huanglongdong Station, bike 10 mins; or Bus 7, 27, Y1
Price: ¥25 (online ¥22 approx.)

9. West Lake Boat Ride (西湖游船 – 含三潭印月)

A boat ride is a magical way to see West Lake. You’ll float past iconic sites like Three Pools Mirroring the Moon and Mid-Lake Pavilion. The views—especially at sunset—are unforgettable.

West Lake Boat Ride

Taking a boat across West Lake to Three Pools Mirroring the Moon is one of those classic Hangzhou experiences—and the good news is that you can usually buy tickets directly at the pier.

Along the lakeshore, several boat piers sell tickets on-site, and most also allow QR-code payment with your phone. When I’m guiding visitors around the lake, we often simply walk to a nearby pier and buy tickets there. The following piers commonly operate boats to the Three Pools island and support either counter purchase or mobile payment:

  • First Park Pier
  • Second Park Pier
  • Fifth Park Pier
  • Youth Palace Pier
  • Zhongshan Park Pier
  • Yue Fei Temple Pier
  • Huagang Fish Viewing Pier
  • Qianwang Temple Pier
  • Hangzhou Hotel Pier (occasionally listed)

A small practical tip: popular piers like Huagang and Qianwang Temple can get busy during weekends and holidays, so arriving earlier in the day—or booking online in advance—can save time.

Ticket prices (latest reference):

  • Luxury painted boat / new energy sightseeing boat: 70 RMB per person
  • Leisure sightseeing boat: 55 RMB per person

Either way, the ride itself is wonderfully relaxing. Gliding across the water toward the small island and seeing the famous stone pagodas appear in the lake is one of those quiet Hangzhou moments that stays with you.

Booking: WeChat “西湖旅游”; Book through Viator, trip.com or Klook (great for English-speaking travelers)
Hours: 8:00 – 16:00
Address: Multiple piers including Hubin Park Pier (near Longxiangqiao Station) and Huagang Pier

10. Songcheng Theme Park (宋城主题公园)

Don’t miss the famous show “The Romance of Song Dynasty” at Songcheng in Hangzhou
Don’t miss the famous show “The Romance of Song Dynasty”

With the slogan “Give us a day, and we’ll take you back 1,000 years,” Songcheng recreates a bustling Song Dynasty city. Don’t miss the famous show “The Romance of Song Dynasty”, which uses cutting-edge effects to tell Hangzhou’s story.

At Hangzhou Songcheng Theme Park, you can still buy tickets directly at the entrance.

The standard ticket usually includes the famous performance Songcheng Eternal Love. Prices generally start at around 300 RMB, though different seating categories are available. For example, VIP seats often range around 220–280 RMB, while premium or luxury seats can reach about 480 RMB depending on the section and showtime.

From my experience helping visitors plan their Hangzhou itineraries, on-site tickets are possible but not always ideal. During busy travel seasons, ticket lines can be long, and the better seats—especially the middle front sections—often sell out first. If the show is high on your list, reserving online in advance is usually the safer choice.

Booking: WeChat “杭州宋城”; Book through Viator, trip.com or Klook (great for English-speaking travelers):
Hours: 9:00 – ~21:00 (closing after last show)
Address: No. 148 Zhijiang Road, West Lake District
Transport: Bus 308 or 318 to Songcheng Station
Phone: +86 571 87313101

11. Xixi National Wetland Park (西溪国家湿地公园)

Called the “Kidney of Hangzhou,” this park is a green oasis filled with rivers, reeds, and wildlife. You can take a hand-rowed boat to glide through quiet waterways and spot traditional riverside homes.

Xixi National Wetland Park (西溪国家湿地公园)

You can buy tickets on arrival for Xixi National Wetland Park, and the park offers several convenient ways to do it.

When I visit, most travelers simply purchase tickets at one of the main entrance visitor centers, such as Zhoujiacun Visitor Center or Longshe Zui Visitor Service Center, where staffed ticket windows are available. Some entrances also provide self-service machines or QR codes so you can pay quickly using your phone. The standard adult ticket is about 80 RMB.

Inside the park, if you want to take a battery boat or traditional rowing boat, those boat tickets are usually bought directly at the docks within the park, rather than online in advance.

That said, I still suggest reserving ahead when possible. During busy seasons—especially spring when Hangzhou enters its peak travel period—tickets can become limited. You can easily reserve through the “Xixi Wetland” official account on WeChat to make your visit smoother.

Booking: WeChat “西溪湿地”; Book through Viator, trip.com or Klook (great for English-speaking travelers)
Hours: Apr–Oct: 7:30 – 18:30; Nov–Mar: 8:00 – 17:30
Address: No. 518 Tianmushan Road, West Lake District (Zhoujiacun Gate)
Transport: Metro Line 3 to Xixi Wetland South Station, walk to entrance

12. Hangzhou Zoo (杭州动物园)

How to book tickets for Hangzhou Zoo
Hangzhou Zoo

Hangzhou Zoo is home to over 200 species, including pandas and golden monkeys—perfect for families.

Right next door, the Botanical Garden bursts with beauty, especially in spring and fall.

You can easily buy tickets at the entrance of Hangzhou Zoo. When I pass by the zoo in the West Lake Scenic Area, I often see visitors simply walk up to the ticket window, show their ID, and purchase a paper ticket on the spot before entering.

If you prefer to arrange things ahead of time, you can also buy tickets online through the official accounts of “West Lake Scenic Area,” “West Lake Tourism,” or the zoo itself on WeChat or Alipay. At the gate, you just scan the QR code from your booking to enter.

The adult ticket costs about 20 RMB, and children under 1.2 meters tall can enter for free, which makes it a pleasant and affordable stop if you’re exploring the southern side of West Lake.
