Your Day on Mount Emei
Journey from Chengdu to Mount Emei
Your day begins with pickup from your Chengdu hotel, where your guide will meet you in the lobby.
From there, travel by private air-conditioned vehicle to Mount Emei Scenic Area, a drive of around 2.5 hours from Chengdu.
As the city fades behind you, the scenery gradually changes from urban streets to greener countryside and mountain landscapes.
Mount Emei Golden Summit
After arriving at Mount Emei, continue into the scenic area and make your way toward the upper mountain by cable car.
The ride itself is part of the experience, lifting you above forested slopes toward the summit.
At the top, you’ll arrive at the famous Golden Summit, the highest and most celebrated part of Mount Emei.
The views here can feel dramatic and constantly changing—sunshine one moment, drifting cloud the next. On clear days, the mountain range seems to stretch endlessly into the distance.
You’ll have time to walk around the summit area with your guide, take in the scenery, and enjoy the mountain atmosphere.

Huazang Temple
At the summit, visit Huazang Temple, home to Mount Emei’s striking Golden Buddha statue, rising approximately 48 metres above the platform.
Standing here feels especially impressive with the mountains surrounding it on every side.
Your guide will share the Buddhist history of the mountain, the symbolism behind the temple, and why Mount Emei remains an important pilgrimage destination today.
Even for visitors without a religious background, the setting feels peaceful and memorable.

Lunch on the Mountain
Enjoy lunch during your visit on Mount Emei before descending.
This is a good moment to rest, warm up with local food, and take in the mountain scenery before continuing down.
Baoguo Temple (time permitting)
After returning by cable car, if timing allows, you may also stop at Baoguo Temple, one of Mount Emei’s most important lower mountain temples.
Baoguo Temple has long served as an important center for Buddhist worship and activity on the mountain.
Here you can walk through the temple courtyards with your guide and see notable features including a large porcelain Buddha and an enormous bronze bell weighing around 25 tons.
It’s a quieter ending to the day before returning to Chengdu.
Suggested visit: around 30 minutes
At the end of the visit, your driver will take you back to Chengdu, with drop-off at your hotel in the evening.
This trip works especially well if you’d like to experience Sichuan’s mountain scenery and Buddhist culture in one day, without needing to arrange transport or logistics yourself.
