Tour Introduction
Spend a relaxed morning meeting Chengdu’s most iconic residents—the giant pandas. Depending on your chosen option, you’ll visit either the Dujiangyan Giant Panda Center or the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, two of the best places in China to see pandas up close in a thoughtfully protected environment.
Walking through the center with your guide, you’ll watch pandas eating, climbing, resting, and moving through different stages of life—from tiny cubs to fully grown adults. Along the way, you’ll learn how panda conservation works behind the scenes, including breeding, care, and daily routines.
You’ll also stop by the red panda enclosure, where these smaller, quieter animals often rest in the trees—easy to miss if you’re not looking carefully.
Because this is a private tour, the pace feels flexible and personal, with plenty of time to stop, watch, and ask questions as you go.

Drop-off
At the end of the visit, you’ll return to your original pickup point, or if preferred, you can be dropped off in central Chengdu.
Your Morning Panda Visit
Your day begins with pickup from your Chengdu hotel, followed by a comfortable drive through the city toward your selected panda center.

Once you arrive, your guide will lead you inside for a relaxed walk through the research and breeding base.
One of my favourite parts of this visit is seeing how different the pandas are at each stage of life. You may start in the nursery area, where baby pandas rest under close care, then continue through the larger enclosures where younger pandas play, climb, and tumble around together.
As you move through the center, your guide will explain how pandas are raised—from their earliest months through adolescence and into adulthood—and how these conservation programs help protect the species.
You’ll have time to pause for photos and simply enjoy watching the pandas in their environment. Some are playful and active, while others are completely uninterested in visitors and continue sleeping through the morning—which honestly feels very panda.
Before leaving, you’ll visit the red panda area. These smaller tree-dwelling animals are often quieter than the giant pandas but equally fascinating to watch, especially if they’re moving through the branches.
After your visit, you’ll return to your private vehicle and drive back to Chengdu, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or another central city location.
This half-day experience works especially well if you’d like to see Chengdu’s pandas without rushing your day, while still leaving the afternoon free for teahouses, local food, or more time exploring the city.
