Tour Introduction
If you’re short on time but want to experience Zhangjiajie’s most iconic landscapes, this 1–2 day Zhangjiajie tour brings together the highlights in one well-planned route.
The itinerary combines the dramatic sandstone peaks of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park with the famous Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge and the breathtaking summit scenery of Tianmen Mountain.
Inside the national park, you’ll visit Yuanjiajie—the inspiration behind the floating mountains in the film Avatar—along with Tianzi Mountain and Yangjiajie, where forested stone pillars rise dramatically through the valleys. One of the most memorable moments is riding the Bailong Elevator, which lifts you straight up the cliffside to the mountaintop in just over a minute.

The journey continues to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, where you can walk across the famous Glass Bridge suspended high above the canyon floor. Then at Tianmen Mountain, the landscape shifts again—from mountain forests to cliffs, cableways, and the spectacular natural rock arch known as Heaven’s Gate.
This tour works especially well for first-time visitors who want to see Zhangjiajie’s most famous scenery without needing to arrange complex local transport between the sites. With transport, entry tickets, and key logistics taken care of, it’s an easy and efficient way to experience the best of Zhangjiajie in a short time.

Is This Zhangjiajie Tour Right for You?
This tour is a good fit if you’re visiting Zhangjiajie for the first time and want to see the area’s most iconic landscapes in a short amount of time.
It works especially well for travelers who would like a smooth, efficient itinerary without having to arrange separate park tickets, transport, cable cars, or transfers between scenic areas. Since Zhangjiajie’s main attractions are spread out, joining an organised tour can make the planning much easier—particularly if you’re only here for one or two days.
I usually recommend this route if your priority is to experience Zhangjiajie’s “big three” highlights in one trip:
- the Avatar Mountains in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
- the Glass Bridge at Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon
- Tianmen Mountain and Heaven’s Gate
Because the itinerary includes mountain walking, shuttle buses, scenic elevators, and cable cars, it’s best suited to travelers comfortable with a full sightseeing day and some walking between viewpoints.
A Few Planning Notes Before You Book
A few practical things are worth knowing before you go:
Weather can shape the experience.
Zhangjiajie is beautiful in all seasons, but visibility changes quickly in the mountains. Mist can partially cover the peaks—which many visitors actually love—but it can also affect long-distance views from Tianmen Mountain or Yuanjiajie.
The Glass Bridge may feel intense if you dislike heights.
Even if you’re usually fine with viewpoints, the transparent walkway can feel dramatic once you’re out over the canyon. Many visitors enjoy it more than they expect, but it’s worth keeping in mind.
Tianmen Mountain can be crowded in peak seasons.
During Chinese public holidays, summer, and weekends, cable car lines and shuttle routes can take longer than usual. Starting early generally makes the day much smoother.
One day vs two days
If your schedule allows, I usually suggest the 2-day option. It gives you more time at each scenic area and makes the pace feel more relaxed. The 1-day version is possible, but it’s naturally faster-paced with less flexibility for weather or extra stops.
