Tour Introduction
Chongqing can feel bold, layered, and a little overwhelming at first—which is exactly why exploring it with a local guide can make such a difference.
This private full-day city tour is designed to help you experience Chongqing in a way that feels easy, flexible, and personal. Rather than following a fixed route, the day can be shaped around your interests. You can focus on Chongqing’s famous landmarks, historic neighbourhoods, river views, local food, or add places that are less visited but equally memorable.
With your English-speaking guide and private vehicle, you’ll move comfortably through the city while learning more about Chongqing’s history, architecture, and everyday local life.
Popular stops often include the famous Liziba Light Rail Station, where the train passes directly through a residential building; the lively old lanes of Ciqikou Ancient Town; the dramatic city viewpoints at Kuixinglou; the historic Yangtze River Cableway; and the illuminated stilt houses of Hongyadong.
Entrance tickets, lunch, hotel transfers, and private transport are all included, so the day feels smooth and easy from beginning to end.

Your Day in Chongqing
Because this is a private customizable tour, the exact route can be adjusted with your guide on the day. Below is a popular version that works especially well for first-time visitors.
Yangtze River Cableway
Your guide will meet you at your Chongqing hotel in the morning, and together you’ll begin your private city exploration.
A classic way to start is with a ride on the Yangtze River Cableway, one of Chongqing’s most iconic local experiences.

Floating slowly above the Yangtze River gives you a completely different perspective of the city. From the cable car, you can look out over the river traffic, bridges, steep riverbanks, and Chongqing’s skyline rising on both sides.
It’s one of the best introductions to how the city is built around water and elevation.
Suggested visit: around 1 hour
People’s Assembly Hall
Next, continue to People’s Assembly Hall, one of Chongqing’s landmark buildings.
Its architecture blends traditional Chinese design with monumental civic architecture, and it remains one of the city’s most recognizable sights.

The broad square and open space around the hall also make it a pleasant stop for photos and a short walk.
Suggested visit: around 1 hour
Liziba Light Rail Station
From there, head to Liziba Station, famous for one of Chongqing’s most unexpected city views.
Here, the light rail passes directly through the middle of a residential building—something that feels even more surreal in person.

Most visitors pause here for photos and to wait for the train to pass through. It’s quick, but memorable, and very much part of Chongqing’s identity.
Suggested visit: around 30 minutes
Ciqikou Ancient Town
Around midday, stop for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Ciqikou Ancient Town.
With over 1,000 years of history, Ciqikou is one of Chongqing’s best-preserved old neighbourhoods.

Stone streets wind past teahouses, snack stalls, artisan workshops, and traditional shopfronts. It’s a good place to slow down a little after the city viewpoints.
As you walk, your guide may point out local crafts, tea houses, embroidery workshops, and hidden corners beyond the busiest main street.
If you’d like to browse for local snacks or souvenirs, this is one of the best places to do it.
Suggested visit: around 2 hours
Kuixinglou
Later, continue to Kuixinglou, one of Chongqing’s most fascinating urban spaces.
This stop gives you a real sense of Chongqing’s vertical layout. Streets, rooftops, elevated walkways, and buildings overlap in ways that can feel almost impossible to understand until you stand there yourself.
From different angles, the city reveals completely different layers.
It’s also a great place for photography and one of the best examples of Chongqing’s unique architectural character.
Suggested visit: around 1 hour
Hongyadong
Your day usually ends at Hongyadong, one of Chongqing’s most iconic waterfront landmarks.
Built into the hillside above the river, its traditional-style stilt architecture lights up beautifully in the evening.
Once illuminated, the entire complex feels almost theatrical—glowing against the river and skyline beyond.
Inside you’ll find local shops, cafés, snack stalls, and riverfront viewpoints, but often the best part is simply standing outside and taking in the view.
It’s one of the classic Chongqing scenes—and a memorable way to finish the day.
Suggested visit: around 1 hour
After the tour, your guide and driver will take you back to your hotel.
This private experience works especially well if you’d like to see Chongqing’s major highlights in one day while keeping the route flexible and tailored to your own interests.
